Sinigang sowsy

Tried to cook the Red sinigang fever.

Directions:
Put the onion, pork and tomatoes, and tomato sauce in a deep pot, fill with 6 cups of water (add more if you want more sabaw). Let it boil until meat is soft and tender. Add the fish sauce, magic sarap to enhance the flavor of meat (optional), tamarind powder and tomato sauce, then let it boil in a minute or two. Then add all the vegetables. Turn off the heat.

What did I do with the dried chili? I placed it in a small bowl, put fish sauce on it, added kalamansi, and voila! my sawsawan. Sinigang with sawsawan? try it.
Superb!

The bombshell

Deep fried fish in a banana leaf instead of grilling it.
Wow, this sister in law's dish gained a lot of praises from the family that I tried cooking it one weekend.
The banana leaf blended well with the fish and bagoong.
So, Filipino-ishhh. Tasty.  For like, ever.
hehehe

Coffee Break: Banana Bread in a cup

I've prepared these for a taste test and as commercial props in Miguel's advertisement of product on Market Day November 24, 2013.
I've neglected my baking hobby for a long time, and this has given me the chance to mingle with my baking materials once again.
I also want to share with you the short video commercial that we have prepared, hope he'll get an A grade on this one hehehe.....see how adorable our little one is.

Kitchen Boss: Pork Binagoongan with tomato sauce

My second cooking post na uma-ala Rachael Ray since 2011 (see this) less the
27" waistline. Hahahaha...

A bottle of bagoong was sitting in my cupboard for almost a year now.
Good thing no expiry dates for shrimp paste(???).
So before I gobble a cup-full of rice, I inserted health in this viand.
I added ampalaya and tomato sauce into it to balance the fat and saltiness of this dish.
Husband's verdict?
Perfecto!

grass jelly

Given the chance to be a full-time mom (thanks to maternity leave, amen) in two months is like hastily licking the ice-cream before it melts. Spending those days are like patching those moments of being a guilty-working-mom slash wife. It's been my long time dream to fully attend their needs and their wants. And that my friend was one of the distinct evidence why the label of GOOD HOUSEKEEPING was created in this blog :).....

Planning and preparing my kids' school-baon and after-school-snack five times a week is not an easy task. It requires good planning. As you all know, tacos and pastas are my regular guests here, which means they are both very present in my menus because kids love them as their baon and snack, and to keep away their tongue jaded from these tastes, and when my mommy brain is wilted already, I let them decide or ask them what they want to eat on the next day.  You see, democracy is in the house, still hehehe... I've been ignoring their Gulaman drink requests for a week now, and to keep those hippo-hungry mouth mum even in a short span of time, I decided to finally make my grass jelly summer drink. Grass Jelly, ladies and gents is a jelly-like dessert commonly found in Southeast Asia(thanks to Wikipedia). This can be bought in cans and I usually buy them in SM supermarkets. I prefer using grass jelly instead of those pre-cooked gulaman sold in wet markets. This is a better substitute to their favorite iced tea.
GRASS JELLY SUMMER DRINK.
In a big pitcher of water, add some slices of lemon,  4 spoonful of sugar(add more if you want to sweeten it ng bonggang bongga) and add a few drops of vanilla syrup.

A refreshing start to enjoy our summer.

healthy go lucky

Going healthy this time.
Not so me I know hehehe...
My substitute drink for milk.
They don't have the same nutritional value but my subconscious mind says that if I have this,
it's like I'm taking Popeye the Sailor man's miracle spinach.
TOOT TOOT!
